David Mattison (http://members.shaw.ca/dmattison/index.html) and the Victoria Telecommunity Network (http://www.victoria.tc.ca), in association with the British Columbia Community Network Association (http://www.bccna.bc.ca), are pleased to announce that development work on the British Columbia History Web Port (TEMPORARY URL: http://bc.cap-pac.org/SPT) is underway. The portal uses the Scout Portal Toolkit (SPT; http://scout.wisc.edu/research/SPT/) from the Internet Scout Project (http://scout.cs.wisc.edu), University of Wisconsin-Madison. The SPT is available for free download and currently runs only under RedHat Linux. A detailed overview of the SPT was published in the November 2002 issue of D-LIB Magazine (http://www.dlib.org/dlib/november02/almasy/11almasy.html).
