The Friends of the BC Archives guest speaker at their meeting on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Newcombe Conference Hall, Royal BC Museum, 675 Belleville St., Victoria, will be Dr. Richard Rajala, University of Victoria. He will be talking about the social and environmental history of the north coast forestry industry - emphasizing in particular the area's status as a resource hinterland, the problems of corporate concentration, and resistance on the part of First Nations, small producers and communities to a pattern of development that has failed to achieve both social and ecological sustainability.
There is a $5.00 charge for the general public, payable at the door. No charge for members of the Friends of the B.C. Archives.
