This Web site celebrates the contributions of members of the Columbia Detachment of Royal Engineers, part of the British Army, which surveyed roads and townsites, participated in the construction of roads, and who were based at Sapperton, now part of New Westminster. Also covered is the participation of Royal Engineers in surveying the international boundary as members of the Northwest Boundary Commission. The Web site also publicizes the work of Royal Engineers and civilian reenactors of life in colonial British Columbia and Vancouver Island.
