Description: "Established as a not-for-profit organization in 1991, the Nanaimo Community Archives is the repository for community records that document the social, economic, political and geographic development of Nanaimo and surrounding areas. Community records are identified, acquired, and organized according to established archival standards and made accessible to all interested parties. ... Holdings include documents, photographs, maps, memorabilia and other materials from the public and private sectors including the municipal government, community and service organizations, families and individuals. Records date from 1852 to the present with materials from 1874, the year of city incorporation, to 1952 predominating."
