Description: Fort Steele Heritage Town is operated by the provincial government as a heritage attraction. In addition to functioning as a living museum, Fort Steele maintains its own research archives. The Web site features online exhibits about Fort Steele and the East Kootenay region. Among the exhibits are the Travel Diaries of R.V. Bing; the Fort Steele Mining Collection Database; and the Kootenay region's involvement in the Boer (South African) War, 1899-1902.
